What else has to happen before the people of this world rise up with their torches and pitchforks...and guns... and TAKE BACK THIS COUNTRY (and all the other countries) from all these treasonous crooks who have committed a CAPITAL CRIME worthy of the DEATH SENTENCE for all the deaths and poverty they have caused in this country, some of which is yet to happen, merely because the black hole of DEBT hasn't wiggled down the economic pipeline to each and every one of us.....YET!

TODAY'S COMMENTS BY DAN NORCINI

Hourly Action In Gold From Trader Dan Posted: Mar 19 2009 By: Dan Norcini Post Edited: March 19, 2009 at 3:14 pm Filed under: Trader Dan Norcini Dear CIGAs, Here comes the index funds and the hedge funds on the return to the “anti-dollar” move. You will recall they all began a mass exodus beginning in July of last year that took many months to complete as they had built a massive long position across the entire gamut of commodity markets. Those long positions were as much a play on the weaker dollar as they were on a move to hard assets or tangibles as investors were fearful of the spectre of runaway inflation with the Dollar the probing new life time lows. That all came to a screeching halt as risk aversion and the need for cash to meet both redemption requests and margin calls resulted in a wholesale repatriation of funds from emerging markets abroad and a huge reversal in the Yen carry trade. We all know the results of that by now having watched it unfolding before our eyes – the Dollar embarked on a sharp move higher which sent commodity prices crashing alongside of equities as every single commodity market was crushed with not even gold being spared for a short season before it took on its historic safe haven role. What we are now seeing continue this morning after beginning yesterday, are these same exact players who bailed out en masse, now returning en masse to the commodity markets as the long term implications of the Fed’s announcement becomes crystallized in the minds of investors world wide. The death knell of the US Dollar was just rung by Bernanke and company – we wonder how many heard it. Their action guarantees that the US will experience at some point in the not-too-distant future soaring inflation with the increasing likelihood of a hyperinflationary event following. Think about what they announced and sweep aside all the high-sounding phrases and flowery rhetoric – they are going to create in excess of US $1 trillion out of thin air and buy US debt . This is the very monetization that we have been predicting they would be forced to resort to but which we were somehow hoping could be avoided for the sake of our nation’s future. The cards have been dealt and the Fed has shown its hand – with the US embarking on a spending spree that makes the word “orgy” too mild to describe it, they have decided to devalue the currency and debauch our Dollar. They have no other choice now short of defaulting on our debt obligations. I am not sure how this is going to go down with the Chinese who have become our largest holder of US debt but I would strongly suspect that the Chinese will move with even greater speed in their reserve diversification process. I also suspect that the recent chatter coming from several quarters about the need to have a new global reserve currency or some combination thereof is going to garner more earnestness. If the path which the Fed has chosen to follow were being implemented by any other nation on the face of this earth, the currency of that nation would immediately become practically worthless overnight. The only thing that allows the Fed to get away with this con is the fact that the Dollar is the global reserve currency. How do you think this is going to sit with other nations around the world? I am both sickened and angered by what these men, who were given a stewardship of our national currency, have done to us. As I have said many times before, I would much prefer to see a sound US economy, sound monetary policy, a balanced budget and responsible spending and taxing policies. Instead we have the worst of all possible worlds. All we can now do is to attempt to protect our wealth from the ravages that are going to be inflicted upon it. It is coming and nothing can avoid the consequences of this action. Gold continued its torrid reversal off the lows made early in yesterday’s session. It experienced a bit of selling during the Asian session last evening as shorts were trying to push it back below the technically significant $930 level. They failed. It ran right on into the heavy resistance band on the charts near $960 this morning which is the level that is so critical for the shorts to defend if they are going to prevent an almost immediate return to the $1000 level. A breach of $960 that can hold that level for a couple of hours and many of the shorts will cover. That will also bring in fresh money from the momentum funds which have been sitting on the sidelines who are watching to see if that level will fall before their algorithms kick in. See the chart for the technical levels… Yesterday’s volume readings in gold were huge with over 269,000 contracts trading hands. I have not yet had time to check it against the data base but it certainly was one of the largest volumes I can recall seeing. Interesting enough open interest increased only a relatively minor amount in that wild session indicating that a whole lot of hurt was administered to both longs and shorts yesterday. The HUI and the XAU both ran right up their recent swing highs and are attempting to gather enough momentum to break above those levels. For the HUI that means a breach of the 326- 328 level need to occur and hold to set up a solid trending move higher. The XAU looks a bit stronger technically than the HUI as it breached its former swing high near 135 but it needs to push above there a bit further for a bona fide breakout to occur. The move in both indices is occurring with several technical indicators on the daily charts not yet in the overbought zones so they are primed technically for further gains if the bulls can perform and the shorts will blink. Stay tuned on this one. The weekly charts show both indices right on the 50 week moving average so how they can finish out this week will tell us a great deal about what to expect moving forward. If they can best the 50 week average, then the next target is the 100 week moving average. The Dollar – what can one say about it now except that the charts have turned decidedly ugly. A look at the weekly continuous chart shows what could very well be a long term double top at the 90 level on the USDX. It would take a weekly close below the 79 level to confirm that but all of the technical indicators are showing very strong bearish divergence signals on that same chart. There is support at the 40 week moving average near 81.60 and then again at the 50 week moving average near the 79.90 – 80.00 level. If those were to fail, it would not take a lot of time to see the dollar move back down towards it all time lows. Remember that there is or should I say was, a sizeable speculative long contingent in the Dollar according to the recent COT reports. Those folks rushing into the long side of the dollar for a safe haven play were blindsided by Bernanke and company. Nothing like a long side spec flush as the friends of gold can well attest to after having watched so many of them for the last 8 years. I have been monitoring the action in the bond market this morning as I was particularly interested in seeing whether we would get much more in the way of upside action after that mind-boggling, stunning move yesterday. The Fed has obviously moved to put at least a short term bottom in the bond market – technically it cannot be argued otherwise, but what I am personally watching is to see just how high bond traders can take this thing especially with outside support that in the past was forthcoming from foreign Central Banks, particularly the Chinese, Japanese and the OPEC block of nations. Keep in mind that with the slowdown in global trade and the drop off in Chinese and Japanese exports, not to mention the big drop off in OPEC oil revenues, there is a lot less in the way of Dollars that need to be recycled into US Treasuries from those sources. That is a very large chunk of buying that has evaporated from the bond markets at the same moment in time that the supply is being ramped up exponentially. That is not going to be lost on traders although many shorts are no doubt a bit hesitant to step back in front of those things after the shellacking they received yesterday. The question traders will be asking is whether the announced Fed buys will be sufficient to offset the drop off in buying from abroad. We will see soon enough. Equities gave up a good portion of their gains from yesterday (at least they have as I am writing this). Perhaps the euphoria has run smack dab into reality. I might mention here that the Fed’s quantitative easing looks to have been the spark that took crude oil up and over the $50 level. That is no mean feat especially considering the fact that we were swimming in a sea of the stuff for the immediate term. You might recall that crude oil became a proxy for the ills of the US Dollar back during the commodity boom of recent memory with many investment funds pouring money into the black gold as an inflation hedge. At the time many commercials were bewailing the fact that the specs were driving prices beyond the boundaries of fundamental value but they were powerless to halt the rise. With the global economy as sick as it currently is, the conditions are obviously different than before the bubble burst but the fact remains that many investors have come to view crude oil as a play on inflation. That must be respected. We would all do well to also recall Monty’s recent missive on crude oil and his astute observations on the long term outlook for the gooey stuff (how is that for proper, sophisticated nomenclature?). Let’s keep watch also on the commodity currencies, the Aussie, Kiwi and Loonie to see how they fare. All are up today against the greenback. If the focus of the markets shifts to inflation fears away from deflation fears, those currencies should benefit. I am wondering what the Swiss monetary authorities must now be thinking after watching every single bit of the fruits of last week’s foray into the Forex markets to knock the props out from under the Swissie go up in smoke. The Swissie not only took back all of its losses; it even added more gains just for spite. I am curious whether they will come back in and try again. I would also venture to say that the Swiss monetary authorities must be FUMING at the US Fed right about now. With the Dems in Congress poking them in the eye over Swiss bank secrecy and picking on UBS, it is not too much of a stretch of the imagination to state that US/Swiss relations are probably at an all time low. The only question I have now is who is going to be next in this game of musical chairs of currency devaluation that is taking place. One last thing – the collapse in the Dollar with the subsequent strong move higher in the competing major currencies has pushed the gold price down in those terms. We will want to see how gold responds to this in the days ahead as the ideal environment for the yellow metal is a simultaneous move higher in terms of all major currencies, and not just in US Dollar terms. I would prefer to see Euro-priced gold keep its footing near the €700 level and British Pound priced gold hovering near the 650 level and then moving higher. That would indicate that the ferocious gold buying that had been coming out of Europe and Britain a few weeks ago was not just a flash in pan but can be sustained.

DAN NORCINI COMMENTS ON THE MARKET REACTION TO THE FOMC REPORT

Hourly Action In Gold As Of 3PM CDT From Trader Dan Posted: Mar 18 2009 By: Dan Norcini Post Edited: March 18, 2009 at 5:18 pm Filed under: Trader Dan Norcini Dear Friends, The events that have transpired since the writing of my midday commentary are so stupendous that I felt a few comments were in order. The news that the Fed would be buying $300 billion of long-dated Treasuries sent the bond market into what can only be called a frenzy. In all the years I have been trading, I have never seen anything quite like it. We are talking about a move that carried from 123^25 to 132^18. The drop in yield was nothing short of breathtaking. The effect on the yield curve was to flatten it considerably. If the idea was to give the banks some ability to borrow short and lend long and profit from the recently steepening curve, that just went up in smoke but apparently the thinking is that the Fed can artificially force down long term interest rates and this will have a beneficial effect on the comatose housing market. Hey you morons – why not just hand out money directly to every taxpaying citizen in the country? After all, you can just print more of it whenever we need it… God help us all… The effect on both the Dollar and the gold price was instantaneous. The Dollar collapsed as well it should have while gold shot up nearly $60 of its worst levels of the session. Folks – it is my sincere conviction that this current administration is absolutely CLUELESS in how to solve this problem and are flailing in the wind. They are throwing anything that they can think of at a wall and hoping that something will stick. These theoreticians and academics, none of whom can probably even balance their own damn checkbooks, are now attempting to run the monetary system. In the process they have just destroyed our Dollar and make no mistake about this – they are now monetizing debt – which is another way of saying they are printing money out of thin air. Is it any wonder that the Dollar cratered and gold shot up so sharply? As a long term friend of gold I am of course pleased to see gold moving higher but as an American citizen who loves this nation, I am both sickened and angered at the amateur hour that has taken over in Washington D.C. While the Fed burns down the Dollar, the same dipsticks who helped create this mess are worried about $165 million in bonuses when they are spending over $3 trillion in debt that my children will be saddled with. And to see the chief ringleaders, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, feigning outrage and attempting to hop on the populist bandwagon to distract attention away from the gargantuan sum of indebtedness that they have just chained to the next generation makes my blood boil. Wake up America – these damn fools are destroying what is left of our Constitutional republic. Obviously the technical action in gold completely erases that which transpired before the Fed announcement. Now we have to see if gold can sustain a footing above the $930 level. If it can, and it must if it is going to have a chance at trending higher, then it has a very good shot at $960. That level is what will need to be taken out in order to challenge $1000. The mining shares as evidenced by the HUI and the XAU both launched technical breakouts smashing above the 40, 50 and 10 day moving averages and taking out horizontal resistance levels in the process. The HUI needs to take out 320-323 to set up a trending move.

OATH KEEPERS PLEDGE...

This is from OldYeller on the MW gold thread today. Was not aware of this group. Hope they can stick together to outnumber the many psychos our military and policing agencies have created: The Seeds Are Planted The Oath Keepers organization describes itself as a non-partisan group of members of the military as well as peace officers "who will fulfill our oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God." Among the orders the soldiers are pledging NOT to obey: 1. We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people. … Any such order today would also be an act of war against the American people, and thus an act of treason. We will not make war on our own people, and we will not commit treason by obeying any such treasonous order. 2. We will NOT obey any order to conduct warrantless searches of the American people, their homes, vehicles, papers, or effects – such as warrantless house-to house searches for weapons or persons. … We expect that warrantless searches of homes and vehicles, under some pretext, will be the means used to attempt to disarm the people. 3. We will NOT obey any order to detain American citizens as "unlawful enemy combatants" or to subject them to trial by military tribunal. … Any attempt to apply the laws of war to American civilians, under any pretext, such as against domestic "militia" groups the government brands "domestic terrorists," is an act of war and an act of treason. 4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a "state of emergency" on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state's legislature and governor. … It is the militia of a state and of the several states that the Constitution contemplates being used in any context, during any emergency within a state, not the standing army. 5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union. 6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps. … Such tactics … by the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghetto, and by the Imperial Japanese in Nanking, turn[ed] entire cities into death camps. Any such order to disarm and confine the people of an American city will be an act of war and thus an act of treason. 7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext. … Such a vile order to forcibly intern Americans without charges or trial would be an act of war against the American people, and thus an act of treason, regardless of the pretext used. 8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to "keep the peace" or to "maintain control" during any emergency, or under any other pretext. We will consider such use of foreign troops against our people to be an invasion and an act of war. 9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies, under any emergency pretext whatsoever. 10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances. "We will not make war against our own people. We will not commit treason. We will defend the Republic," the organization's website states. "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually affirm our oath and pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

O'Bomb'a...JUST MORE OF THE SAME CRAP ON IRAN

YOU EXPECTED 'CHANGE'? O'Bomb'a is one of them. Just another psychopath with a new image. Barack Obama, Meet Team B By Scott Ritter March 13, 2009 "Truthdig" -- President Obama received a lesson in international gamesmanship last week, when his secret offer to trade the deployment of a controversial missile defense system in Eastern Europe for Russian assistance in getting Iran to back down from its nuclear program was publicly rebuffed. The lesson? You don’t get something for nothing, especially when the something you’re looking for is, itself, nothing. http://informationclearinghouse.info/article22206.htm

SUNDAY MARCH 15, 2009 ACT ON THIS IMMEDIATELY...RIGHT NOW!

GT sez: Read this email I received, then go to: http://www.peaceteam.net:80/action/pnum942.php AND TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY! There are other issues addressed on the page that comes up, so DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO ABOUT IT/THEM. EMAIL: Please note: We told you about this issue last week and many of you responded. But we still need your comments with the USDA by the end of the day, Monday, March 16, to stop the incredibly destructive corporate scheme described below. Congress is already trying to stack the deck so only lobbyists have a meaningful voice in this debate. We can stop them if you speak out now. Radio Chip Animal Identification Would Do ALL Harm To Our Real Food Safety, And No Good It would be too easy to blame the recent peanut panic on one criminal corporation owner, who KNOWINGLY shipped Salmonella contaminated product. But before that it was millions of pounds of ground beef, and before that tomatoes all over the country, and on and on. And when you ask where is all this horrible filth coming from, with a over a million cases of Salmonella in the U.S. alone every year, the answer is self-evident. It's the huge factory farms that overflow with seas of untreated animal waste, that then spill into our food supply, including through our agricultural plant crop fields. We have a lot of work to do to clean up this giant mess, but the first thing we have to do is STOP a lunatic boondoggle being pushed by these same corporate interests, to force radio computer chip implanting of literally every farm animal in the country, EXCEPT on their own factory farms. It is absolutely nothing but a further attempt to drive small family farms out of business, who in fact are our safest source of reliably clean food now. The proposed National Animal Identification System (NAIS) would force even the smallest healthy farms to buy expensive new computer tracking equipment, and potentially would subject them to gestapo-like tactics by the USDA if they are in even slight technical non-compliance. And all this just to fatten the pockets of the RFID chip manufacturers, and to make it LOOK like something is being done to make our food safer. The special one click action page below will send your personal message to all your members Congress and also directly to the U.S. Department of Agriculture who is trying to rush this thing through without adequate scrutiny. Stop NAIS Action Page: http://www.peaceteam.net/action/pnum942.php This action is especially urgent because the U.S. House Agriculture Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry is holding a hearing on NAIS implementation on March 11, and many farm activists fear the plan is to push it out for a full vote in Congress faster than a greased pig, before we the people have a meaningful chance to speak out. You may not have a House member on that particular subcommittee, but you can pressure your own House member to tell they colleagues on it that there is massive constituent pressure against NAIS. For the especially mobilized on the action page above there is a link to the phone numbers for those on the subcommittee, because they are in fact your representative as an American citizen if they sit on it. Below are some more extensive truth points you can select from in drafting your comments or on the phone, again linked to from the action page above. NAIS was designed by NIAA (the National Institute of Animal Agriculture), a corporate consortium consisting of Monsanto, industrial meat producers such as Cargill and Tyson, and surveillance companies such Viatrace, AgInfoLink, and Digital Angel. The NAIS scheme fits agribusiness, biotech, and surveillance companies to a T: 1) They are already computerized, and they engineered a corporate loophole: If an entity owns a vertically integrated, birth-to-death factory system with thousands of animals (as the Cargills and Tysons do), it does not have to tag and track each one but instead a herd is given a single lot number. 2). NAIS will only be burdensome and costly (fees, tags, computer equipment, time) to small farmers which helps push them out of business, thus leaving more market to giant agribusiness. 3) Agribusiness wants to reassure export customers that the US meat industry is finally cleaning up its widespread contamination. NAIS would give that appearance ... without incurring the cost of a real cleanup. 4) NAIS will allow total control over the competition: Owners of even a single chicken would be required to register private information, the Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of their 'premise' and if any animal leaves its 'premise', the owner will be required to obtain an ID number for it and have the animal microchipped. All information, including 24 hour GPS surveillance would be fed into a vast corporate data bank, allowing for ease of false slaughter to hide true problems or to substitute biotech's genetically engineered animals. 5) NAIS may allow plundering of farmers through required DNA samples: DNA samples would be invaluable to Monsanto and biotech corporations genetically engineering animals. Farmers who raise heritage breeds would have no say in how their distinct DNA would be used and to the sole profit of biotech companies. 6) The advantage for the surveillance companies is obvious: Compulsory tagging of 6 million sheep, 7 million horses, 63 million hogs, 97 million cows, 260 million turkeys, 300 million laying hens, 9 billion chickens, and untold numbers of bison, alpaca, quail, and other animals -- and new animals being born, means a massive self-perpetuating market. Please take action now to stop this insanity. Our health and our lives depend on it. Stop NAIS Action Page: http://www.peaceteam.net/action/pnum942.php The health claims for NAIS are a sham though fear of disease is used to advance it. NAIS does not touch the contaminated source of E.coli, salmonella, listeria, mad cow, and common meat-borne diseases - the inherently unhealthy practices (mass crowding, growth stimulants, feeding regimens, rushed assembly lines, poor sanitation, etc.) of industrial-scale meat operations. Upton Sinclair's "Jungle" all over again. NAIS will do nothing to stop these practices. Moreover, tracking ends at the time of slaughter, yet it's from slaughter onward that most spoilage occurs. But NAIS does not trace any contamination after slaughter. The self-serving Agribusiness NAIS plan distracts from their contaminatory practices, while targeting hundreds of thousands of small farms, homesteaders, organic producers, hobbyists ... and maybe even you. NAIS's purpose is to advance corporate monopoly over all food in the US. And with it, they have laid the ground work. Kissinger said if you control food, you can control people. This immense corporate plan to control of our food supply and eliminate our independent farmers is, at it heart, the most severe threat possible to our democracy itself. Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours, and forward this alert as widely as possible. If you would like to get alerts like these, you can do so at http://www.peaceteam.net/in.htm

FOR CLYMER...THIS IS A STAND PIPE

The water pipe is deep in the ground to prevent freezing and the lift handle at the top pulls up a shaft that allows the water to bypass a seal and lets if flow out the spout. I'll take a better shot of one and post it soon. This pic is at a bad angle. The lift handle is nearest you. The spout is on the far side. This one is wrapped in foam tubing to inhibit freezing. It's my neighbor's. He's a trucker. When he's on the road I use it and other items to show him how high the snow is piling up so he'll know if he will have to tunnel in to his home when he returns. I have photos of this very stand pipe slowly disappearing in our recent record snows.

5:15AM PDST WED 3/11/09

We just finished a 4 to 5 inch snow storm on Monday. Now our temps are dropping to below zero this morning. It's MINUS eleven degrees in Coeur d Alene, ID right now My pipes are frozen. I have to go outside to get water for my coffee from the standpipe.

A QUIP FROM CASEY RESEARCH'S DAILY EMAIL, WHICH YOU SHOULD ALL HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO BY NOW

When the great ship Titanic made her maiden voyage across the North Atlantic and its blinded leader struck the iceberg, it would have been absurd to announce: "All hands on deck to man a bucket brigade; this ship is too big to fail!" To require men, women and children to try to bail out the Titanic until its final plunge, while its captain and officers took refuge in the few lifeboats is not unlike what taxpayers are being forced to do in this financial meltdown. Just as then, the correct response would be not "too big to fail," but instead, "Too Big to Bail." - Charles Schisler, Buenos Aires Herald, March 7, 2009 http://www.caseyresearch.com:80/displayDrp.php?e=true

FROM CASEY RESEARCH

Wall Street on the Tundra Iceland’s de facto bankruptcy—its currency (the krona) is kaput, its debt is 850 percent of G.D.P., its people are hoarding food and cash and blowing up their new Range Rovers for the insurance—resulted from a stunning collective madness. What led a tiny fishing nation, population 300,000, to decide, around 2003, to re-invent itself as a global financial power? In Reykjavík, where men are men, and the women seem to have completely given up on them, the author follows the peculiarly Icelandic logic behind the meltdown. http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=3980533393592326637

WHY YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GOLD SALES BY CENTRAL BANKS OR THE IMF

Feb 24,2009 http://www.taipanpublishinggroup.com/taipan-daily-022409.html Why the IMF and Fort Knox Won’t Put the Hurt on Gold Written by Justice Litle, Editorial Director, Taipan Publishing Group Is there a Sword of Damocles hanging over gold’s head? Here’s why U.S. and IMF gold holdings aren’t as big a deal as some think... http://www.taipanpublishinggroup.com/taipan-daily-022409.html Be sure to read the comments. Remember that Sinclair has told us many times that any gold sold by the IMF or any other major institution (if they even have any gold!) would be sucked up immediately by Central Banks and not one ounce of it would ever reach the public markets.

A Condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of 'pricks' and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed. Darn it doesn't get more accurate than that"

ONE OF MY BIGGEST FEARS RIDING UP HERE IS I MIGHT HIT A MOOSE OR DEER

GT's FIRST RIDE ON THE NEW HARLEY APRIL 11, 2008

It's great riding up here through the woods with snow in the fields and ice on the lakes and rivers and the temperature is 70 degrees on a clear spring day. I live where most people have to travel hours to just get to what I enjoy by just walking out the front door.

A MOOSE IS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ANIMALS IN THE WEST ALONG WITH THE GRIZZLEY AND THE BISON

No folks, that bald headed fool ain't me! I'm not that stupid to kiss a moose. I might get drunk enough to do it, but I'm not that stupid sober.

CUP AND HANDLE FORMATION IS A VERY POWERFUL PATTERN - BULLISH

CONSOLDATION AT THE HANDLE OF THE CUP The gold price broke above the 980 resistance level. Doing so technically did not come convincingly though. The U-shaped reversal pattern is clear, nicely rounded, enough to warrant the name 'Cup & Handle' from the charting lexicon. The top of the cup is 980 on the left side and 1000 on the right side. The positive bias is bullish. Notice all moving averages are in bullish mode, having crossed over. The bull run in gold has come from a bottom of roughly 700 up to 1000. The corrections in December and January were not small. Now the February correction might not be small. But they are fit within the bullish scenario. The MACD cyclical still looks healthy and strong. Support in the current pullback and consolidation appears to be in the 900 to 925 ribbon range. THE GOLD CHART IS CARVING OUT THE RIGHT SIDE HANDLE IN THE CUP & HANDLE REVERSAL PATTERN. From there, a breakout comes. Credit to Clymer for this link to Jim Willie article. http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials_08/willie022709.html There is much more

BOB CHAPMAN'S LATEST 2/28/09

Nothing More Than Inflation, Voodoo Finance And Smoke And Mirrors The so-called greatest economic boom in history, which supposedly took place in the United States from the end of the early 1980's recession to 2007, was nothing but an exercise in inflation and voodoo finance. It was a smoke and mirrors bull market based on Alice in Wonderland economics. The air is now being let out of the balloon as the man behind the curtain, the Fed Chairmen of that era, mainly ardent Illuminist Paul Volcker, and especially Mr. Bubbles, bonehead Alan Greenspan, are now being revealed to us as the Great Oz, who in the fairytale movie turned out to be a carnival barker and balloon rider from Kansas. How utterly appropriate. So, how low will we now go? Will it be all the way down to the Dow 1,000 of the early 1970's? Will we ride our way down to the Dow 2,000 of the late 1980's? Or will it be down to the Dow 3,000 of the early 1990's? Already, the past 12 years of gains has gone up in smoke, and this is just the beginning. http://theinternationalforecaster.com/International_Forecaster_Weekly/Nothing_More_Than_Inflation_Voodoo_Finance_And_Smoke_And_Mirrors

The Great Famine Of 2009-2012...WORTH CONSIDERING

http://www.whatdoesitmean.com:80/indexfamine.htm

SORCHA FAAL ARTICLE..JUST READ IT AND DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS

US Orders Project ENDGAME To Begin, 775,000 Americans Targeted For Arrest By: Sorcha Faal A stunning Russian Foreign Ministry report is stating today that the President Obama has secretly ordered the ‘immediate’ opening of America’s vast gulag of concentration camps, built since 2001 and estimated able to hold a further 1 million of their citizens, which is aside from the 2.3 million currently imprisoned in what has become the World’s largest Prison Nation in all of history, in what they are calling Project ENDGAME. These reports say that President Obama’s administration is being driven by the ‘outright fear’ over what they say will be an ‘explosion’ of massive social upheaval this coming summer due to their Nations economic collapse which has nearly totally destroyed their ability to maintain their food stocks as tens of thousands of US farmers have had to resort to the mass slaughter of their bird flocks, swine and cattle herds they are unable to feed due to their not being able to gain access to their much needed Farm Operating Loans they survive on until their crops come in and their flocks and herds are ready for market. The American farmers being cut off from these operating loans is eerily reminiscent of the 1930’s Great Depression which likewise saw the total collapse of the United States being able to feed itself and which Russian historian Boris Borisov has estimated killed over 10 million Americans. GT RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM HIS ISP TODAY 2/28/09

This might explain some of the trouble I have been having logging on to my order placing platform, while still being able to access the rest of the internet. From TimeWarner: During the past week, hackers have launched a series of attacks on Time Warner Cable's servers. Time Warner Cable is working with law enforcement agencies to resolve these crimes. As a result of these attacks, you may have experienced a temporary "outage" when attempting to surf the Web, including an intermittent "page cannot be displayed" error message. The outages did not result in services being 100% unavailable; and were limited to sporadic timeouts which appeared to be random events. Some users may have experienced a total disconnect, however. These types of attacks are not uncommon, especially for a network as large as ours. We suspect that the attackers are using "zombie computers," or hijacking unsuspecting subscribers' machines to perpetrate the attack without its owner's knowledge. All of us at TWC take these attacks extremely seriously. As previously mentioned, we are working with the appropriate law enforcement agencies that specialize in investigating these types of crimes. We will pursue prosecution of all perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law. We apologize for the inconvenience that these attacks may have caused and encourage you to report any suspicious activity. Instructions for reporting security abuse are located at http://help.rr.com. Sincerely, Time Warner Cable

GTs RE-POST OF HIS COMMENT ON THIS WEEKEND'S TALKBACKTOGOLDTRADER

GT said... CLYMER and goldmelter.. Your friends, and the public, need a basic understanding of economics (Austrian Economics only!) to be able to analyse the bullshit being spewed by almost every speaker or writer in public media. Even many on the internet spew the same crap. It's just the few we know of and follow who have managed to convey to those who have a working brain what is so. Hey, when I listen to O'Bomb'a, even I fall into the lure of his silver tongued, pied piper tune. If I didn't know in my heart that he is just saying what every puppet master in history has told his flocks to get them to go back to sleep and not start a revolution, even I might be praising him as our saviour. I did it with Kennedy. But I was only seventeen then and my baby brain wasn't fully developed by experience, history, and studying the truth. O'Bomb'a truly is a masterful bullshitter..AND HE KNOWS IT...and has used it to get where he is. NO ONE rises to that position without the help of the ELITIE POWERS in this world. HE IS ONE OF THEM. Being dark skinned, he is being used as a distraction by them to keep us all from the whole point of what's going on. OUR GUV'MINT IS STEALING US ALL BLIND. And, they intend to make us all the NEW SERFS in a new age of HAVES and HAVE NOT laborers. As to the excerpt you posted, and goldmelter's confusion of what he reads... My basic effort is to 'speak DOGSHIT'. EVERYONE understands 'DOGSHIT'. It's the old 'keep it simple' refrain. That's why I use the metaphor of putting too much water in the Kool-Aid to describe what happens when the money printers increase the paper money supply. It makes each unit worth less. And most people understand watered down Kool-Aid. So when people then use this ever 'worth less,' or 'watered down' paper money in the marketplace to bid for the fixed, or becoming scarcer, amount of goods and services available, they have to 'bid' or offer to pay, more for those goods and services, which raises the prices of them. That's called PRICE INFLATION, a subset of the REAL INFLATION which is the INCREASE in the money supply. When it gets moving fast enough, it becomes HYPER...inflation, which no one is quick enough to cope with, if they are paid in paper money (if they are even getting paid at all!) Those who know gold and silver can't be counterfeited (or created out of thin air like paper money),,having the basic economic understanding to recognize what is about to happen, or is happening, simply convert their paper into PMs and, when necessary, either exchange them for the current paper being accepted, or exchange them directly for what they need to consume. Most people have some hidden need to appear smarter than those who they are communicating to, and use what they deem to be, the current 'language' used in discussing, in this case, economics. A term such as 'pricing mechanisms' is a bullshit term used by academics and Federal Reserve Chairmen to keep your brain in a constant state of interpretation, which will eventually tire you and make you fall asleep, or turn the channel. It's a tactic, such as "guv'mint speak," they use to keep you a few steps from being able to counter their bullshit. If you have to interpret what they have said, both to yourself, and then to those you are trying to convince of their bullshit, that takes time and also tires those whom you are attempting to convince of the bullshit. The guv'mint bullshitters know this. That's why they spew bullshit jargon. The public will only revolt when they are hit where it hurts... in their stomachs and shelter from the elements. But by the time this happens to enough of them, they will already be penned up in a concentration camp or be mowed down by Xe (formerly Blackwater) killers with automatic weapons and bombs or gas. Eventually, it all comes down to DOGSHIT! Which EVERYBODY understands when the blood in your body is leaking out of it. February 28, 2009 8:44 AM

A LIFE LESSON

The madam opened the brothel door in Winnipeg and saw a rather dignified, well-dressed, good-looking man in his late forties or early fifties. 'May I help you sir?' she asked. 'I want to see Valerie,' the man replied. 'Sir, Valerie is one of our most expensive ladies. Perhaps you would prefer someone else', said the madam. 'No, I must see Valerie,' he replied. Just then, Valerie appeared and announced to the man she charged $5000 a visit. Without hesitation, the man pulled out five thousand dollars and gave it to Valerie, and they went upstairs. After an hour, the man calmly left. The next night, the man appeared again, once more demanding to see Valerie. Valerie explained that no one had ever come back two nights in a row as she was too expensive. But there were no discounts. The price was still $5000. Again, the man pulled out the money, gave it to Valerie, and they went upstairs. After an hour, he left. The following night the man was there yet again. Everyone was astounded that he had come for a third consecutive night, but he paid Valerie and they went upstairs After their session, Valerie questioned the man, 'No one has ever been with me three nights in a row. Where are you from?' she asked. The man replied, 'Ontario'. 'Really', she said. 'I have family in Ontario.' 'I know.' the man said. 'Your sister died, and I am her attorney. She asked me to give you your $15,000 inheritance.' The moral of the story is that three things in life are certain. 1. Death 2. Taxes 3. Being screwed by a lawyer

BEN FRANKLIN QUOTE

I agree to this Constitution with all its faults, if they are such, because I think a general government necessary for us, and there is no form of government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered, and believe farther that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other. - Benjamin Franklin, speaking on the last day of the Constitutional Convention in 1787

World Financial System In A State Of Insolvency Posted: February 21 2009 Gold now represents a flight to quality, banks being nationalizied, financial system in a tailspin, the depression we are now in is stage 2, inflation is a hidden tax, dollar stability being debauched, China wants out of the dollar, stability of EU at risk, Dow hiding its worst stocks from its index, Housing bubble now burst puts prices back in line with incomes... INTERESTING EXCERPT FROM THE ARTICLE: "For those of you who missed it the Dow Jones removed all stocks in the industrial average priced under $10.00, effectively eliminating the crippled financial sector. Had they been left in the Dow would be lower and would have broken down below 7286. This is just more flagrant manipulation. Almost every day we see it in a number of markets. This week the Fed and the Treasury tried to push the stock market up and the commodities and gold and silver markets down but to no avail. Downside stock market volume has been some 65% of total volume and there are over 300 new lows almost every day." GT REPOSTS FROM TALKBACK TO GOLDTRADER

GT said... To all... Regarding the Rick Santelli Rant... His position has much logic...IF... this country's economic system (and thus, the World's) hadn't become so crippled that a vast MAJORITY of its population weren't now in an imminent position of suffering MASS STARVATION and much violence. There are times when those members of a society (who still have some assets of such magnitude that allow them to exist in a manner far above mere subsistence) have to SACRIFICE some of their own assets, time and energies to care for those who don't have the ability any longer to cope with a situation of this magnitude. THINK KATRINA! I AM NOT SPEAKING OF SOCIALISM! I am talking about TEMPORARY MEANS to cope with the unavoidable consequences of this CRISIS that was CREATED BY OUR VERY GOVERNMENT AND FEDERAL RESERVE POLICIES and Alan Greenspan (with the consent of many other very powerful people) in particular. If what Mr. Santelli says is the way things SHOULD BE... that the productive folks should not be required to help out the people who have acquired their homes and other assets by virtue of the FREE MONEY created by Alan Greenspan's fraudulent interest rate policies, the GREED of the lending institutions making LIAR LOANS to people who were both greedy and STUPID to involve themselves in such contractual arrangements, and having the ability to READ A CONTRACT, and therefore having the FACTS of what would certainly happen when these adjustable mortgages finally reset... would make some sense if the RESULTS created by Mr. Greenspan and the large banks/lenders/government had not become so MONSTROUSLY LARGE that an unworkably LARGE number of the country's population will be thrown into the streets with NO HOPE of finding any type of work or employment that would allow them to survive in any acceptable manner not likened to destitution. When, not if, that happens, those who still have some type of income or savings that are worth anything, which can still be exchanged for the goods and services they need for their survival, will be more concerned with protecting themselves and their property from the wandering herds of new poor and desperate who will be willing to DO ANYTHING to find sustenance and shelter for themselves and their loved ones. The Government should, RIGHT NOW, be setting up facilities (NOT concentration camps) that will care for the present homeless of our nation, and those becoming homeless by the minute so that we can realize some type of CIVILIZED transfer of our population from this calamity to what lies on the other side of it without realizing massive casualties in the process. Just my thinking on what it means to be a TRUE member of a society. February 21, 2009 1:47 PM

FEB 20, 2009

6:03AM PST BONDS MOVING UP, DOW AND OIL DOWN, YEN AND EURO DOWN

DOLLAR HITS .8829 CNBC IS SAYING GOLD IS NEAR $1000...IT'S NOMINAL HIGH! IT'S BEEN HIGHER THAN THAT ON THE APRIL09 CONTRACT BY $50 BUT THEY ARE PROBABLY TALKING ABOUT SPOT GOLD ACCORDING TO MY DATA GOLD JUST HITS $1000.30 AND DROPS TO 997 THEN RISES AGAIN THIS IS AN EMOTIONAL LEVEL FOR MANY PEOPLE AS THEY DON'T WANT TO GET LEFT BEHIND AND LOSE THE VALUE OF THEIR PAPER ASSETS, BUT THIS IS WHERE MANY WILL BUY ON MARGIN AND GET CREAMED WHEN THE PROS DROP THE MARKET ONLY TO RUN IT BACK UP AGAIN!

5:58AM PST GOLD CREEPS UP TO 999.40, STRONG MIXED VOLUME HERE

VERY CAUTIOUS TRADING HERE. GOLD may inch up to 999.99 and either sell off big time, or explode

5:46AM PST ANOTHER NEW HIGH FOR GOLD AT 99890

VOLUME AT THESE LEVELS IS LIGHT I hate to buy tops, but I've seen gold inch higher so many times when I didn't buy it, it makes me sick. Still, I'm standing aside at this level unless I see a spike building. There was a 300 contract bid at 99760 that just got filled, but the market didn't explode on it because it was a limit order at a fixed price. Gold is hugging the highs which are too near $1000 for me to buy, Bonds are forming a long term HEAD & SHOULDERS pattern, building the right shoulder. That resolves DOWN. The bond market will eventually collapse driving interest rates SKY HIGH!

5:35AM PST GOLD LOOKING VERY TOPPY, BUT ANY HEALTHY PULLBACK WILL BE BOUGHT STRONGLY

DOWN VOLUME GETTING STRONGER

5:25AM PST VERY SHAKEY NY OPEN, GOLD CONSOLIDATING HERE, COULD GET POUNDED DOWN BY BULLION BANKS OR EXPLODE HIGHER

5:14AM GOLD MAKING NEW HIGHS, BOND MOVING UP, EURO DROPPING GRADUALLY

GOLD INCHES UP TO 99850 ON STRONGER VOLUME AND IS NOW PULLING BACK SOME JUST BEFORE THE NY OPEN DOLLAR MOVES UP TO .8821

5:09AM PST GOLD MAKES A NEW HIGH, THE H&S PATTERN IS VIOLATED

VERY LIGHT VOLUME ON THESE UP MOVES. NEXT TWO OLD HIGHS TO EXCEED ARE: $1001.20 $1005.30 THE ULTIMATE HIGH FOR THE APRIL09 CONTRACT IS AT $1050.00

5:05AM PST GOLD MOVING UP VERY GRADUALLY ON LIGHT VOLUME, THE NY OPEN SHOULD BE INTERESTING

MOVING AVERAGES ON A DAILY CHART FEB 20, 2009

The higher the gold price goes above all the MAs, the more they want to pull back to seek equilibrium.

4:55AM PST TWO PULL BACK SCENARIOS

4:58AM PST WARNING!!! A SHORT TERM INVERSE HEAD & SHOULDERS PATTERN HAS FORMED, RESOLVES DOWN

4:47AM PST GOLD PULLS BACK ON LIGHT VOLUME

Notice that gold has broken out of the dark blue down flag and has reached all the way up to the top line of the dark green intermediate trend channel and is now dancing around on the line looking for support. The low volume on this move concerns me, but that will all change as we near the NY open. They, of course, will do everything possible to keep gold BELOW $1000, but that round number is NOT as big a deal, having already been exceed months go, and can be exceeded easily by tens of dollars before pulling back to that level, which should logically become a support level just by virtue of it's round number significance.

4:35AM PST GOLD TOPS AT 9957 FOR NOW AND PULLS BACK

The other indicator markets don't mean much right now. This rise was on only 1200 contract up volume in the last 30 minutes (4am to 425am pst) and even less in the 30 minutes previous to that time segment (3:30am to 4am pst) Nothing really explains this rise in gold except PANIC RUSH INTO GOLD AS A SAFE HAVEN! Dow is down over 135 points but just turned up a bit Bonds rose with gold but have dropped with a slight up turn Oil has been trending down short term to the 38s Yen and Euro just don't matter In fact NONE of these markets' movements would help you predict gold's movement. The Dollar's high on Feb 20, 2009 was .8886. It is currently at .8804 moving up from a low of .8774

4:26AM PST FRIDAY GOLD ZOOMS TO 995

30 MINUTES before I wake up gold explodes above 990.\ Then I have trouble making my remaining computer work. I'm online now and have a working order placing system on my last computer. I wonder what the gods will throw at me next.

MIKE WHITNEY ARTICLE

Trouble at Treasury Geithner gets the keys to the henhouse By Mike Whitney http://informationclearinghouse.info/article22025.htm February 17, 2009 "Information Clearinghouse" --- The Obama Team has a big problem on their hands; Timothy Geithner. Geithner was picked as Treasury Secretary because he is a trusted ally of the big banks and has a good grasp of the intricacies of the financial system. The problem is that Geithner can't handle the public relations part of his job. His big debut in prime-time last Tuesday turned out to be a complete dud. He was thoroughly unconvincing and looked like a nervous teenager at a speech contest. He fizzled on stage for 25 minutes while the little red box in the corner of the TV screen--which shows the current Dow Jones Industrials--plummeted nearly 400 points. It was a total disaster and one that is sure to be repeated over and over as long as Geithner is at Treasury. Not everyone can be a charismatic orator like Obama and nothing short of a personality transplant will fix Geithner. He lacks gravitas and doesn't inspire confidence. That's a problem since, the administration's main objective is to restore public confidence and get people spending again. They're just shooting themselves in the foot by using him as their pitchman. Eventually, Geithner will either have to be tossed overboard or strapped to Obama like a papoose so he can share in the president's popularity. Otherwise he will continue to be a millstone.

PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS ARTICLE

The People Be Damned The President of Special Interests By Paul Craig Roberts http://informationclearinghouse.info/article22018.htm February 17, 2009 "Information Clearinghouse" -- - The Bush/Obama bailout/stimulus plans are not going to work. Both are schemes hatched by a clique of financial insiders. The schemes will redistribute income and wealth from American taxpayers to the shyster banksters, who have destroyed American jobs, ruined the retirement plans of tens of millions of Americans, and worsened the situation of millions of people worldwide who naively trusted American financial institutions. The ongoing theft has simply been recast. Instead of using fraudulent financial instruments, the banksters are using government policy.

Gary North's REALITY CHECK Gold's price: http://www.GaryNorth.com/snip/300.htm The Federal debt: http://www.GaryNorth.com/snip/544.htm To subscribe to this letter: http://www.snipurl.com/subscribenow Issue 833 February 17, 2009 THE LOOMING COLLAPSE OF EUROPEAN BANKING The banking system of Europe is at the edge of the abyss. A brief story by "The Telegraph" revealed this last week. The original was almost immediately deleted. A new version was substituted. You can see the original headline on Google: European banks may need £16.3 trillion bail-out, EC document warns ... http://www.garynorth.com/snip/790.htm There are dozens of these links. I read the story last week. I saved the link. But, lo and behold, when I clicked my saved link on Monday morning, the story did not mention a specific figure. There was a reason for this. The editors at "The Telegraph" had taken out the following paragraphs: European Commission officials have estimated that impaired assets may amount to 44pc of EU bank balance sheets. The Commission estimates that so-called financial instruments in the trading book total £12.3 trillion (13.7 trillion euros), equivalent to about 33pc of EU bank balance sheets. In addition, so-called 'available for sale instruments' worth £4trillion (4.5 trillion euros), or 11pc of balance sheets, are also added by the Commission to arrive at the headline figure of £16.3 trillion. http://www.garynorth.com/snip/794.htm Fortunately, web sites around the globe have posted the deleted paragraphs. Converted into dollars, £16.3 trillion euros are the equivalent of $25 trillion. The original paragraphs can be found in several links in the Google list of headlines. Why did the editors do this? A call from some government bureaucrat? Or the realization that the article might start a bank run? I think the latter. In either case, it's scary. The current article begins with a lie: "Last updated: 6:34 GMT, 11 Feb 2009." WHAT THE EUROPEAN ESTABLISHMENT IS FACING NOW The original February 11 story was a shocker. The author claims to have seen a secret European Commission report. The report estimates that losses (write-downs) by European banks will be in the range of $25 trillion. If true, then to save the banking system, European governments will have to find an extra $25 trillion, fast. There is only one source of such funding: the central banks, mainly the European Central Bank (ECB). For comparison's sake, consider the $700 billion banking bailout in the United States last fall. Of this, only about half has been spent. That was sufficient bailing wire and chewing gum to keep the American banking system going. More will be needed, but so far, this has sufficed. The Federal Reserve did a lot of asset swaps in 2008 -- Treasury debt for toxic assets -- and pumped in an extra trillion dollars or so. But the system has held. Adding these together -- the increase in the monetary base and $350 billion in bailout money -- the total is around $1.5 trillion. Then think "$25 trillion." This is a sobering thought for some, and a reason to get unsober, fast, for others. The European Central Bank will have to serve as the lender of last resort. There are over a dozen national EC governments. How will they coordinate their respective bailouts? Think of a dozen Barney Franks and a dozen Nancy Pelosis. Think of a dozen Henry Paulsons. Think of a dozen Gordon Browns. Terrifying, isn't it? Here is the story, as airbrushed by the editors. "Estimates of total expected asset write-downs suggest that the budgetary costs -- actual and contingent -- of asset relief could be very large both in absolute terms and relative to GDP in member states," the EC document, seen by The Daily Telegraph, cautioned. Very large? That's it? Just very large? Twenty-five trillion dollars in losses is merely very large? That is twice the size of the gross domestic product of European Community. It is not as though there is a lot of time to deal with this. Bank runs can take place very fast. What if Europeans try to pull out currency? There will not be enough currency. So, they will move their assets to American or Japanese banks. They will have to sell their domestic currencies to buy dollars and yen. Their currencies will crater. "It is essential that government support through asset relief should not be on a scale that raises concern about over-indebtedness or financing problems." Wait a minute. If asset relief is not on this scale, then what will sustain a bankrupt European banking system? You are telling me that these banks are sitting on top of $25 trillion in losses, and this can be concealed? Does no one audit these banks? The secret 17-page paper was discussed by finance ministers, including the Chancellor Alistair Darling on Tuesday. National leaders and EU officials share fears that a second bank bail-out in Europe will raise government borrowing at a time when investors -- particularly those who lend money to European governments -- have growing doubts over the ability of countries such as Spain, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Italy and Britain to pay it back. National leaders apparently have a clear perception of the public's lack of faith in the in specific governments' ability to repay. But that does not answer the crucial question: "What are the depositors' fears regarding their individual banks?" It's one thing for a government to be unable to pay back loans over the next two decades. Of course they will not pay it back. No national debt is ever paid back. It is rolled over. It's another thing to deal with bank runs. The Commission figure is significant because of the role EU officials will play in devising rules to evaluate "toxic" bank assets later this month. New moves to bail out banks will be discussed at an emergency EU summit at the end of February. The EU is deeply worried at widening spreads on bonds sold by different European countries. In line with the risk, and the weak performance of some EU economies compared to others, investors are demanding increasingly higher interest to lend to countries such as Italy instead of Germany. Ministers and officials fear that the process could lead to vicious spiral that threatens to tear both the euro and the EU apart. Ministers and officials have got the picture. They are facing a breakdown of Europe's economy. If the bailouts are insufficiently large in every nation to reduce depositors' fears regarding their banks, there will be a rush out of the euro and into dollars and yen. If the bailouts are sufficiently large to stem the tide on bank fears, then there will be a rush by bond investors out of government bonds. This will make the existing recession much worse. If each country has widely different rates, the euro will break down. The poorer countries will borrow at low rates from the European Central Bank. The Germans will revolt. They could demand an end to the ECB, which will have become a welfare agency for the Mediterranean governments. That would end the euro. That would end the attempt to create a new European order. This thought brings to mind one of Johnny Mercer's masterpieces. So you met someone who set you back on your heels - goody, goody You met someone and now you know how it feels - goody, goody You gave him your heart too, just as I gave mine to you And he broke it in little pieces, now how do you do? You lie awake just singing the blues all night - goody, goody And you think that love's a barrel of dynamite Hooray and hallelujah, you had it coming to y'a Goody goody for him, goody goody for me I hope you're satisfied, you rascal you, I hope you're satisfied 'cause you got yours But I digress. "Such considerations are particularly important in the current context of widening budget deficits, rising public debt levels and challenges in sovereign bond issuance," the EC paper warned. http://www.garynorth.com/snip/789.htm These considerations are indeed important. But solutions are a lot more important. The report is 17 pages long. The solutions -- if any -- will be a lot longer. SO FAR, SO GOOD So far, the euro has not collapsed. It has fallen, but there is no rush for the exits. Why not? These answers come to mind. 1. The story is not true: no such document. 2. The document is wrong: banks are not really that much in the hole. 3. The banks are in the hole, but public faith in their governments remains high. 4. The report is true, but it is not believed by currency speculators. 5. The report is true, but currency speculators believe that the governments and central banks can handle it without major shifts in currency values. The response of the British government was swift: to demand a revision of the original article. This tells me the article was true. European bank stocks have fallen since the article was published, but they are not in free-fall. In my view, the European public still has faith that the governments and the central banks will successfully intervene to restore commercial banks. But if the original article was correct, that 44% of bank balance sheets have disappeared, then the public is living in la-la land. The entire structure of Europe's capital markets is at risk. Or, I should say, what remains of the capital markets is at risk. How are governments going to replenish lost capital? It's gone. It's missing in action. EASTERN EUROPE Ambrose Evans-Pritchard has explained this in a "Telegraph" article published on February 15. If mishandled by the world policy establishment, this debacle is big enough to shatter the fragile banking systems of Western Europe and set off round two of our financial Gotterdammerung. He was referring to loans to Eastern Europe. He used Austrian banking as the example. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) says bad debts will top 10pc and may reach 20pc. The Vienna press said Bank Austria and its Italian owner Unicredit face a "monetary Stalingrad" in the East. . . . Stephen Jen, currency chief at Morgan Stanley, said Eastern Europe has borrowed $1.7 trillion abroad, much on short-term maturities. It must repay -- or roll over -- $400bn this year, equal to a third of the region's GDP. Good luck. The credit window has slammed shut. Not even Russia can easily cover the $500bn dollar debts of its oligarchs while oil remains near $33 a barrel. The budget is based on Urals crude at $95. Russia has bled 36pc of its foreign reserves since August defending the rouble. "This is the largest run on a currency in history," said Mr Jen. This reminds me of the bankruptcy of Long-Term Capital Management in 1998. That hedge fund had bought ruble-denominated assets on a leveraged basis: 30 to one. When the Russian central bank failed to defend the ruble, LTCM went bust in a few days. It had to be bailed out by $3.6 billion in loans from New York banks. Today, the European banks are gutted, not a lone hedge fund. Russia is going belly-up. It will have to liquidate most or all of its reserves of Western currencies. It has stopped buying U.S. Treasury debt. It is selling. In Poland, 60pc of mortgages are in Swiss francs. The zloty has just halved against the franc. Hungary, the Balkans, the Baltics, and Ukraine are all suffering variants of this story. As an act of collective folly - - by lenders and borrowers -- it matches America's sub-prime debacle. There is a crucial difference, however. European banks are on the hook for both. US banks are not. Almost all East bloc debts are owed to West Europe, especially Austrian, Swedish, Greek, Italian, and Belgian banks. En plus, Europeans account for an astonishing 74pc of the entire $4.9 trillion portfolio of loans to emerging markets. They are five times more exposed to this latest bust than American or Japanese banks, and they are 50pc more leveraged (IMF data). This is the ringing of the bell. The bell of the Great Depression of the 1930's rang on Wall Street in October 1929. But that was not the cause of the Great Depression. The causes were these: (1) monetary base expansion in the 1920s, (2) the cessation of this expansion in 1929; (3) the governments' raising of tariff and trade barriers in 1930 all over the West, and (4) the collapse of the Austria's Credit Anstalt Bank in 1931. In the USA, we saw the first two, 2000-2007. Central banks will inflate to keep any major bank from collapsing. But the trend is ominous. Russia and Eastern Europe are gonners. European banks that lent to them are, too. So is the purchasing power of the euro -- and maybe even the actual euro. I can see Germany cutting and running sometime before 2011. Evans-Pritchard pulls no punches. This is a gutsy forecast. Whether it takes months, or just weeks, the world is going to discover that Europe's financial system is sunk, and that there is no EU Federal Reserve yet ready to act as a lender of last resort or to flood the markets with emergency stimulus. If he is correct about the inability of the ECB to imitate the Federal Reserve System, this means a collapse of the banks. That means the collapse of Europe's economy. "This is much worse than the East Asia crisis in the 1990s," said Lars Christensen, at Danske Bank. "There are accidents waiting to happen across the region, but the EU institutions don't have any framework for dealing with this. The day they decide not to save one of these one countries will be the trigger for a massive crisis with contagion spreading into the EU." He ends with this: "If one spark jumps across the eurozone line, we will have global systemic crisis within days. Are the firemen ready?" (http://www.garynorth.com/snip/793.htm) The capital markets do not indicate agreement with his assessment. People still trust the banking system. Generally, I trust capital markets rather than journalists. But I think the report is too explosive to ignore. I think the optimism of investors is greater than the optimism of European bankers, bureaucrats, and newspaper editors. --------------------- CONCLUSION The West's economy really is at the edge of a leveraged disaster. The politicians know only one answer: deficit spending. The central bankers have only one significant tool: monetary inflation. The speed of events is increasing. The markets don't reflect this yet. This gives time to a few people to get out. But the vast majority cannot get out. There are too few escape hatches open. ------------------------------------------------------

GT HAVING COMPUTER AND BLOG PROBLEMS TODAY

I'm posting this on my one good computer that will bring up a correct form to post on Blogger. My usual machine is giving me all sorts of crazy problems. I have to do a complete system restore today. I have several important articles to post but can't get them across to this computer right now as they are from emails that I only receive on the troublesome computer. I am starved for time and sleep so I can't post anything more today until I get the problems fixed. You can still post on the blogs and I can put up a general headline as on TALKBACKTOGOLDTRADER, so feel free to do that. I can respond to your post, but don't have the time until later after I fix my computer, which is going to take a long time what with backups, etc.

FROM THE MW THREAD TODAY 2/16/09

Integral Barack Obama was seated next to a little girl on an airplane trip back to Washington. He turned to her and said, “Let’s talk. I’ve heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.” The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to The Obama, “What would you like to talk about?” “Oh, I don’t know,” said the Obama. “How about What Changes I Should Make To America?” and he smiles. “OK,” she says. “That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?” Obama, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence, thinks about it for a second and finally says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.” To which the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to change America when you don’t know shit?”

NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE: DO WE NEED A NEW INTERNET?

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/weekinreview/15markoff.html?_r=1&hp Know that your internet interactions are NOT safe. They may soon be used against you. The internet could easily be brought down, which would cripple all business, banking and social interactions. Do the best you can to be as internet/computer literate as you can become, to the greatest level you can attain, including programming and hacking if only for defensive purposes. It's really not a hard field of study to understand. You just have to PRACTICE until it becomes second nature. Its languages make more sense than regular English.

February 15 - 2009 Obama Turns US Over To ‘New World Order’ On February 17th

URL TO ARTICLE: http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1207.htm I read Sorcha Faal ONLY because he/she (there is speculation as to who this person really is) brings up very interesting points that I find nowhere else. Quite often his/her message sounds crazy and outrageous and many statements made seem to blow simple occurances out of all proportion. I read it all with a critical eye. So don't think I BELIEVE it all. I present this to you so you can at least have your interest piqued as to what MAY BE HAPPENING. I personally, tend to believe that the worst is ABSOLUTELY ABOUT TO HAPPEN. It's just the details and timing that I don't always agree with. But it is absolute TRUE that the ILLUMINATI's GRAND SCHEME to control the world in a NEW WORLD ORDER is being pushed forward in RUSH MODE while they have the world's peoples in panic mode because of the economic crisis that they engineered for just this purpose. Be sure to click on all the links in this article. And read CRITICALLY, but DO be concerned. What O'Bomb'a has already done is just an extension of the disaster of the Bush years in power. The elites of this world will NEVER give up their control of the mechanisms of POWER or of THE TRUE WEALTH of this planet.

Then you should go to the site every now and then to see what's new. You should review the new Stimulus Bill to see what it is and will do. Also read the three articles on The Great Depression at the bottom to get a better understanding of what caused it. Be very critical about all information you read about The Great Depression as many falsehoods are still flying about. You have to understand Austrian Economics to ever truly understand Economics and how things truly work.
